Mitla to Villa Lumina, in Puerto Escondido via Mezcal and Hierve el Aqua

Tuesday, July 30, 2024 Wow!  I wake up in time to see the sunrise!  Betsy, Jan and I take a walk to the OXXO for coffee and hot chocolate and Betsy has the last of the banana from the other morning so we share those.  Juan has brought Jan a tamale, so we're all ready for the day. Jan's such a sucker for a perro (dog)! This unique structure actually uses solar power to provide outlets on the street for people to power their technology! Details Last view of our hotel! Everyone brings down their suitcases and we mount up for the day's adventure.  This is the last chance to get artisinal mezcal and we stop at one of the many roadside stands where we watch "Poncho" going in circles to grind up the agave leaves and then have an impronto tasting. Oh my goodness there are so many, many favors, depending on which kind of agave they use or whether there is a rattlesnake or worms or or a scorpion in the mix!!  And there are cream ones with various fruit-type flavors ...
