Time to set up the blog and get this show on the road!


It's a blackberry lily!  It's not Mexican, but the colors are reminiscent
of the bright Mexican sun and the gorgeous native garb.

 Wednesday, July 31, 2024 I pop up when I realize it's about sunrise and when I hit the beach I see Barbara ahead of me!  And Jan and Betsy are coming right behind!  We walk for quite a way until we've exhausted the photo potential and turn around to go back.  We run into Karen, too, and people scatter to prepare for the day.  Gradually everyone appears for breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and black beans and we are ready to go to Puerto Angelito for our boat ride to see the sea turtles and the dolphins! Our villa on the Pacific Ocean Rinsing off the sand The two sides of the highway are at different elevations with drainage in between. We're so lucky!  We start right off with a pair of Olive Ridley turtles increasing the turtle population, and move on to a group of dolphins putting on a show for us.  Well, actually they're eating but we enjoy watching their antics! Adios, Mexico; Hello, Tropical Storm Debby!

 Friday, August 2, 2024 Everyone seems to be up even earlier than necessary on departure day. Jan is staring into the darkness where she has seen things - bats? moths?  flitting across the courtyard between our room and Ginger's. Barbara slept in a hammock until the rain (our first) drove her under cover! The plan is to use up the last of our leftovers for a breakfast that looks a lot like my favorite scrambled eggs with vegetables. Someone calls Ginger away and I inherit the spatula.  I've got this, but what in the heck is going on!  Turns out it's nothing...whew! Cacti on the beach - better than sandspurs!  Easier to spot! Our last meal and Ginger gives me a perfect lead into our small tribute - three more questions for Herd Mentality! First, Who is the best tour leader and organizer? Ah! A Day to Relax and Regroup - and don't forget the bioluminescence!

 Thursday, August 1, 2024 The intrepid walkers are up and out jut before sunrise!  Worth it! Then, eventually, the cooking crew prepares breakfast.  The clean-up crew will swing into action afterwards! Time to relax and enjoy the environment and try to check into the airlines, with mixed success.  Our first flight is on Aero Mexicana and between it's problems and Delta's some of us are just going to go the counter and let the desk people take care of us!!  Maybe later in the day we'll have more luck.  Who knows? Lunch will be leftovers from our yummy dinners and Ginger has taken dinner orders so we can eat out after the evening's excitement, but with little time lost.  We'll be leaving tomorrow morning early, so time becomes more of an issue then.  For now, it's so lovely to ignore the clock and just listen to the sounds of the surf and the birds.
