Wow! I wake up in time to see the sunrise! Betsy, Jan and I take a walk to the OXXO for coffee and hot chocolate and Betsy has the last of the banana from the other morning so we share those. Juan has brought Jan a tamale, so we're all ready for the day.

| Jan's such a sucker for a perro (dog)! |

This unique structure actually uses solar power to provide outlets on the street for people to power their technology! |

| Last view of our hotel! |
Everyone brings down their suitcases and we mount up for the day's adventure. This is the last chance to get artisinal mezcal and we stop at one of the many roadside stands where we watch "Poncho" going in circles to grind up the agave leaves and then have an impronto tasting. Oh my goodness there are so many, many favors, depending on which kind of agave they use or whether there is a rattlesnake or worms or or a scorpion in the mix!! And there are cream ones with various fruit-type flavors like kiwi and rose and capucino! Turns out that the little places like this have much smoother mezcal and they're not as smokey. That seems to indicate poorer quality! Who knew??
| Poncho has to come across the street to start his work day. (He's the donkey) |
Meanwhile we peruse the merch table.
| The donkey powers the grind wheel to squeeze the juice from the agave leaves. |
| This family has their own agave fields right above the distillery. |
| He kept walking around finding new flavors for us to try! |
| She bottles and labels our orders on the spot! |
| So many varieties! |
| Right on the road |
| Moving on |
| The road is pretty narrow! |
Next we go to the "Boiling Water", so named because there is a spring that feeds glorious pools within sight of a "petrified" waterfall! Swimsuits appear from underneath clothing and people climb down the treacherous rocks for either swimming or photos or both!
| A mermaid suit for Amanda! |
| Giggle! |
| This is why it's called boiling water! |
| Barbara's the only one to make it to the other side of the "frozen" falls! |
This is the kind of thing Barbara saved me from climbing!
On the other hand, I missed this!! |
Juan translates everything for us! This one basically says not to mess things up for the next generation. |
Barbara say this young woman struggling to keep the wheelchair under control!
MMM! Mangoes! Thanks, Barbara

There is a luncheon place nearby where the hostess tells us what is available and Juan helps us make choices. The hot chocolate comes in what are obviously handmade cups and Jan really wants one! Juan finds out that they are for sale and that lets her take the rest of her drink with her on the bus. Lynette wants one to and there's a complicated game of I'll buy this one but you can have it when I'm done because she's through and doesn't need a to-go cup! But everyone winds up with what they want!
Hot chocolate!!
And the sweet bread to dunk in it!
The specialty of this area is called memelitas; but this is only half of one because Betsy, Barbara, Lynette and I split two of them!
Down the road for a while and a rest stop is requested. They have the most beautiful roses and the oddest er, um, topiaries??

Barbara's beautiful hibiscus
It's an automated pay toilet!
There's a long ride to our beach house and we are eager to get onto the new road, 'cause this one is pretty rough. But the drawback to the new road is that not all the road cuts have been stabilized and we are stopped at one point while the road is cleared. That actually works to our advantage because Jan bought a bottle of the chocolate mezcal and Karen had gotten eight of the little tasting cups, and this is the perfect time to share the deliciousness!
Oh my goodness! There's our beach house. directly on the Pacific Ocean! Rooms are assigned in a heartbeat and everyone heads for the water like baby sea turtles!! And after getting our fill of the saltwater and the undertow and the really powerful waves, we shower off the sand and saltwater and experience the pool, because we have to try everything!!
The security guard has to find us on his list.
Eventually it's time to dry off and get ready for dinner. Our cook has prepared the food we asked for and it is being kept warm in the kitchen. She's even set out the plates and individually wrapped silverware and napkins! We have shrimp, fish, fresh veggies (and a big cheer from the peanut gallery, black beans and rice and guacamole. There is fresh lemonade and some wonderful person has brought a bottle of mezcal so cocktails are available!!
A delicious and satisfying dinner is had by all and cleanup goes quickly with everyone pitching in, especially Juan! And the internet is working! Life is good!! it will probably be an early night for everyone!
